If you are new to bird nest farming and would like to start your first bird farm, you should ask yourself a few simple question and decide what type of investment is best suit your need! 

  1. Are you new to bird nest farming but would like to get started with the lowest cost & lowest risk?
  2. Without any experience in setup and running a bird house?
  3. Do you own a shop lot for conversion into bird house? or do you own agriculture land for bird house construction?
  4. Is the location with birds? Do you perform a test and calculate the birds? What is the bird flying path for your selected location?
  5. Do you own the bird farmer certificate and able to obtain the bird house license?
  6. Do you design the bird house? Is the bird house design have proven success rate? Is your bird house design approve by local council? Will they tear down your premises if found fault in your design?
  7. Any competitor bird houses at your location? Is their bird house high tech and populated with lots of swiftlet? Do you have the skill to beat them? Is their bird house operate within guideline? Is there any case of bird house break-in in your location?
  8. Do you have the constrator to construct the bird house? Is he an expert in bird house farming too? What is his success rate in bird house conversion?
  9. Do you have time & money to run and operate the bird house in long term? For example 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years without harvest?
  10. Do you have access to the best bird farming consultant? Which will assist you in increase your bird farm production?
  11. Do you have experience in harvesting the raw bird nest? Knowning what to harvest and what can not be harvest?
  12. Do you know where to sell your bird nest to? And what is the market price and how to increase your bird nest per kilo price?

Above are the few common question that you will come across when you planning to start your first bird house! How do you know the knowledge that you gained are correct? In typical bird house converted from two storey shop lot, would cost RM70k-RM100k in renovation work. Plus the shop lot value the two storey bird house would easily costing you RM300k-RM400k.
